Since I am now the proud owner of a Midwest Double Critter Nation (DCN) I wanted to archive the info I had listed in one of my pages regarding my former cage, since it is still a great cage and I still wanted the info I had included there to be available. So here ya go:

Petco Rat Manor Habitat

A lot of rat enthusiastics out there will claim that Marshall, Midwest, and Prevue Hendryx make the best cages and I would have to agree. However these cages are the Rolls Royce’s of pet rat cages and are not only VERY spacious, but can be very expensive. I purchased my Petco Rat Manor cage for about $80 on sale. Its smaller size may not house as many rats but it is a PERFECT starter cage for someone who only has a few rats.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column width=”1/2″][vc_column_text]Specifically designed with the best interests of your pet rat in mind, the Petco Rat Manor Habitat houses your pet rat securely and comfortably, while also providing him with enough space for playing and scampering about. These durable rat cages have one solid metal cage bottom, one 3/8″ wire mesh complete middle floor, and then two 3/8″ wire mesh partial floors that are 7 inches wide. It also has three ladders that not only help to encourage more physical activity, but also help to provide a safe and sanitary living space for your pet rat. This spacious rat habitat also allows room for various chew toys and other rat supplies.

Featuring sturdy construction, this unique Petco rat habitat includes 1/2″ spaced chew-proof heavy duty welded wire to safely secure your pet rat, along with stain-resistant powder-coated surfaces for easy clean-up. Additionally, there is a deep metal base that is 4 inches high that not only prevents spills and scatters of food and bedding, but it also helps to reduce a mess from forming around the habitat.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][vc_column width=”1/2″][vc_column_text]

[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]For your added convenience, there are two large doors that allow for quick and easy access to your pet, as well as to simplify cleaning and maintenance. Its interweaving wire mesh construction allows for an adequate air-flow for proper ventilation. As far as assembly is concerned, it is fairly easy, although getting the partial floors level was a bit trickier.

This cages measurements are:
16.5″ L X 22.5″ W X 32″ H

This cage will hold 3 male rats or 4 female rats, MAXIMUM (allowing 2 cubic feet per rat) , as long as the room between each level is at least 12 inches in height, if not more, to allow climbing.

Remember rats need room to run around, to stretch out to sleep and to stand up straight on their hind legs. If you currently have baby rats you should bear in mind that does are likely to grow to about 7-10 inches (18-25cm) long (plus tail) and bucks to about 10-12 inches (25-30cm) long (plus tail).

To see if your cage, or a cage you are considering, is large enough to house your rats, or to see how many rats can fit comfortably in that particular cage, please use this calculator:

This particular calculator also takes into account any shelves unlike other sites.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]
